Now anyone, male or female, may wear a hat at a Legion hall. At least here on Bowen.

What was the point of removing your hat, other than good manners?

If you were in costume you'd be permitted to wear a hat.

Good to see Legion 150 leads the way into the 21st century.

I think it was respect and good manners. Most men would take their hat off when they come to your home or sit down to dinner. women considered their hat part of their costume. I think there was a sort of vague feeling about military hats being not worn and also hats tended to difference officers from enlisted men and that was to be avoided. And was. But time passes and so do customs.
